(More customer reviews)This is an excellent reference text for TV production students. I use this in my classes. The problem is it is very expensive and it is missing some key framing concepts (the rule of thirds). It can be redundant at times. As a whole though it is an excellent text.

Electrical Wiring Residential Review

(More customer reviews)I have wired four new homes and remodeled one using the concepts in this book. The homes ranged from 3200 to 5000 square feet in size. The 5000 sq/ft house used 400 amp service for the main panels. I am a do it yourself homeowner. I am a firmware engineer by trade so I don't wire for a living. This book was magnificent in helping me understand how to put the entire picture together for a large complicated home. These homes included security systems, phone systems, home audio systems, internet wiring, and of course power and lighting everywhere that I needed it. I learned so much from this book and the way that it walks through each room in the house. I recommend following it all of the way through on your own house plans. What it lacks I was able to find by looking at homes being constructed in the area. Things like how high up do I put the outlets and switches comes to mind. The code changes every three years and so does this book. I got most of my knowledge from the 1993 book. I used the 1996 and 1999 books on the later homes but the basics were already there. All code changes are very well covered in the latest edition and nothing is dropped from edition to edition that I know of. I am very impressed with Mullin's style and thought that I could show some of my gratitude back for the help that he gave me to do this over and over again. I have recommended this book to many friends who have also wired their own homes. If I needed to I would buy it again but I have decided to live in one of my houses for a while. What I believe this book has that others do not is a grasp of the whole picture. I was able to do the entire project each time with this book. I installed the service conductors from the transformer to the house. I built up the main breaker panels and subpanels. I performed the load calculations to make sure that all circuits were properly balanced. I don't think that many of the other wiring books cover all of these things. You can perform the entire wiring of your residential home by yourself with the knowledge that you can glean from this book and a few questions asked of your local inspectors and examining the work of electricians wiring in your area. Make sure that you follow the code and not the local electricians though because I do not know how some of them pass inspections with some of the work that they do. Good luck on your project.

Medical Terminology for Health Professions Review

(More customer reviews)This book is fantastic. It has a lots of medical terms that have the phonetical trasncription in paranthesis. Not to mention that after every word the author divides it into parts and explain to you EVERY TIME what the segments mean. And the CD at the backis awsome. I recommend for people buying it used to make sure with the seller that the book will have the cd. It has audio dictionary, interactive games, matching games, labeling images etc. I mean, really, it is the best. A bit pricey, but it's worth it.

(More customer reviews)This book was the required text for an MBA MIS class. The book is extremely rudimentary and bachelor-level. It doesn't really get into MIS until Chapter 11. It's more of a history book of technology.

This is a benchmark text for the syllabus organized by technology (a week on databases, a week on networks, a week on systems development, etc.) taught from a managerial perspective. O'Brien defines technology and then explains how companies use the technology to improve performance. Real world cases finalize the explanation.

Barron's SAT Subject Test Math Level 1 Review

(More customer reviews)This book contain valuable material that not only gives a student an idea of what exam is actually about but really helps to improve the score. It does not replace a regular textbook or a good teacher, but still can help a lot. It is better tool for preparation to the math part of SAT then any general "all-in-one" SAT preparation book.
The book contains 18 chapters which cover most topics well and three model tests. Those tests are very important preparation tools and are well worth the money.
Chapter 2: "Tactics" is a really valuable chapter. It covers eight very useful approaches to solving SAP math problems. Exercises (with solutions) are good and as far as I can tell are pretty realistic. Three model tests are the real strong point of the book. Each of them is worth the price of the book alone.
Shortcomings are few. IMHO ideas of chapter 2 are not sufficiently reinforced in other chapters. The geometry section can (and should) be enlarged as this topic usually creates for student the most problems.
Also topics are treated as isolated without pointing to bridges between them (for example between trigonometry and geometrical problems).
Some neat tricks possible because a graphic calculator is allowed on the test (and it is IMHO a must ) are not covered. This is an area that needs another book and a lot of dedicated self-study as few high schools use it. Usage of HP graphic calculator can improve your results considerably. But the problem is that you need to master it. Other things equal it is better to use the calculator that you know well and get used to.
Highly recommended as an additional book to a good "all-in-one" SAT preparation book because math part of the test is the most important and most difficult part of SAT test. It can help to improve the score and at the same time save the family some money if (and only if) the student has adequate motivation to study himself/herself.

Digital Design: Principles and Practices Package (4th Edition) Review

(More customer reviews)This is about the best book on Digital Design I've had in my hands. It was strongly recommended by our professor, and the whole class totally agreed after a few weeks.
It is complete since I had a class that was half a Digital Design course. I found every topics treated in a complete and detailed way.
It is useful, because in my opinion the included Xilinx Software alone worths the whole price. It is a powerful tool that lets you put in practice what you've learned from the book.
And it is as funny as a book on this subject can be ... one can learn it from the first pages. This helps taking the book in your hands even when studying is not exactly the funniest thing you could do.
The overall quality, hence, remains 5 stars from me even if ... printing errors have been sometime very annoying. I think the Updated Edition should be a good remedy to this drawback.
